Just returned from a beautiful vacation in Thailand. It really is as gorgeous as all the tourism pictures suggest. I’ll admit, I’m a sucker for limestone karst formations.
We had a fantastic time visiting Phuket, the Similans, Ao Nang, and Ko Phi Phi. Lots of snorkeling, lots of sand and sun, lots of yummy thai food and Chang beer, and lots and lots of fiction reading. Highlights included spotting cuttlefish and hawk-billed turtles, an anniversary dinner at Mom Tri’s in Phuket, and discovering a copy of Freedom that another traveler had left at our last hotel. It was a really nice change of pace to spend most of our days outside in the fresh air; we got up with the sun and crashed not long after sunset dinners most nights. Chongqing feels dirtier and smoggier by comparison now, but at least the temperatures here have warmed a bit since we left. More in the album.
